PlaneSystem® by MDT Udo Plaster

Developed in cooperation with Zirkonzahn

Now Udo Plaster, master dental technician from Nürnberg, has developed a novel transfer approach, the PlaneSystem®. It determines the occlusal plane and any associated asymmetries individually for each patient based on the ala-tragus plane and natural head posture (NHP) and transmits the real position to the CAD/CAM system. The method presented here can determine the occlusal plane and any asymmetries for individual patients without a facebow transfer. Visualised at their natural inclination, the occlusal plane and its asymmetries can be reproduced in a virtual articulator equipped with appropriate geometries. All major intraoral patient data (centric, three-dimensional occlusal plane) are recorded and transferred played back one by one. This allows possible compensations to be detected prior to developing a treatment plan for laboratory or chairside restorations, minimising or completely eliminating any sources of error, particularly during data transfer, that might otherwise occur when planning or fabricating a dental restoration.

The PlaneSystem® consists of the PlaneFinder®, the PS1 real and virtual articulator, the PlanePositioner® and the special CAD-PlaneTool PS1 software.
