What is a Laminar Air Flow Ceiling ?
Use of Laminar Air Flow ceiling in operating rooms
ATA Medical is manufacturing Laminar Air Flow Ceiling in France since more than 30 years.
Laminar Air Flow ceiling (LAF ceiling) is a mandatory system that must be installed in high-risk operating room (refer to American standard ASHRAE 170-2017 and international Standard ISO 14644-1 for air filtration in healthcare). Laminar Air Flow ceiling are also the only way to reach ISO5 environment inside your OR
The LAF ceiling is the last stage of filtration before the air goes to the operating room. It is mostly equipped of HEPA 14 filter. Hence, it is the most important filtration stage of the hygienic air treatment process.
There is 2 goal for the LAF :
1) Supply the patient and the staff inside the operating room with clean air thanks to the HEPA filter installed inside the LAF
2) Create a piston effect by continuously feeding the operating area with clean air. This piston effect will avoid particles and microorganisms from the rest of the room to enter the operating area and possibly infect the patient.
In order to respect the different standard and get the best air filtration quality, the flow of air going out of the LAF must be LAMINAR. To do so, ATA Medical 30 years’ expertise will help you select the best LAF ceiling size, the adequate AHU airflow, and design the best speed of air to reach the standards and get the best air quality inside your operating room to make you patient and staff safe from airborne infection.
Our LAF ceiling can adapt to any room architecture, we have different size and height available and can even tailormade them for hybrid operating room with C-scanner.
Several options are also available like diffusion by double stretched fabrics, integrated LED light, filter pressure probe, central passage for OR Light etc…
