Is 3D4D ultrasound scanning safe in Obstetrics and Gynecology?
3D/4D ultrasound scanning uses the same ultrasound to build a better image through software-enhanced imaging. It is a non-invasive examination technology that does not cause radiation damage to the mother and the fetus in the abdomen.
Since ultrasound machines do not produce any ionizing radiation, by the mid-eighties, more than 100 million people around the world had undergone ultrasound scans before birth, and 3D/4D ultrasound scanning has been used in obstetrics for more than 30 years without a single incident case of miscarriage or harm to the baby caused by ultrasound.
The American Pregnancy Association states the following: “[The] ultrasound is a non-invasive exam which poses no risks to the mother or developing fetus.” (Americanpregnancy.org)
In addition, 3D/4D ultrasound scanning can obtain lifelike fetal images and is an important means for evaluating the organs and health status of unborn babies.
