Live streaming of surgeries at the 7th Chronic Occlusions Conference
On October 5th and 6th, the 7th Chronic Occlusions Conference took place with the live broadcasting of two surgeries from the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital to the Auditorium of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau
Four distinguished interventional surgeons: Bruno García, Bernat Serra, Lluis Teruel and Xavier Millán, participated in this conference, sharing their experience and knowledge with great professionals in the field of medicine that, thanks to the advances in communication technology, allowed the attendees in the Auditorium of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau to closely observe the medical procedures that were being carried out at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital.
One of the essential elements that allowed this high quality live broadcast was the audiovisual equipment installed in the Interventionist Room digitised with ORisTIC Hybrid in the Haemodynamics Service of Vall d'Hebron. This project includes the digitisation of video and audio of all the equipment in the interventional room, allowing the management of the integration from the Control Room. In addition, Barco's WorkSpot solution plays a fundamental role by not only allowing the visualisation of audio and video signals, but also offering complete control over the equipment in the room.
The modules included in this project focus on audio and video signal routing, communication between the Interventionist Room and the Control Room, video conferencing capabilities and content recording. This enables smooth and efficient communication between professionals in the Interventionist Room and those in the Control Room, ensuring that information is transmitted accurately and in real time.
In addition, complete equipment was installed in the Training Room, including a 4K interactive monitor and professional speakers and microphones. The main functionality of this room is the ability to view live surgeries without latency, with the highest image quality and bidirectional audio with the interventional room. This allows everyone in the Training Room to communicate live with the Interventional Room, which is essential for real-time training and decision-making. In addition, this room is equipped with a simultaneous and independent ORisTIC control, allowing professionals to view images and designs independently from those used in the Control Room.
The 7th Chronic Occlusions Conference was an event that stood out not only for the advances in medicine shared, but also in technological and audiovisual evolution. The implementation of state-of-the-art equipment at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital allowed for the live broadcasting of surgeries, providing medical professionals with a valuable learning opportunity. This approach to communication represents an important step towards a future in which technological advances bring considerable benefit to both medical care and education.
