Live surgery at the Expert Day - Chip Procedure
The distinguished haemodynamicists Dr. J.A. Gómez Hospital and Dr. L.M. Teruel Gila, from the Bellvitge University Hospital led part of the Expert Day - Chip Procedure, where they shared knowledge and advances in interventional medicine.
The special feature of this day was the live broadcasting of the surgeries via videoconference, from the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge to the Boston Scientific facilities located in Madrid. This was made possible thanks to the audiovisual equipment installed in the ORisTIC Hybrid digitalised Interventionist Room in the Haemodynamics Area of the hospital.
A Hybrid Intervention Room
The digitisation project of the interventional room is a pioneering project that stands out for the recording of content and the routing of audio and video signals from all the equipment in the room. In addition, communication has been enabled from the Control Room, allowing efficient control of all audio and video signals coming from the different devices in the room.
Modules included in the project:
1. Routing of audio and video signals allowing the transmission by videoconference of the content of the live surgery, in high quality, to the Boston Scientific facilities in Madrid.
2. Communicators for Interventional Room and Control Room. This functionality ensures fluid communication between the haemodynamicists in the interventional room and the technicians in the control room, allowing effective coordination during procedures.
3. Videoconferencing: High-quality videoconferencing is essential to maintain fluid two-way communication between the care team at Bellvitge University Hospital and the public in the Boston Scientific auditorium in Madrid.
4. Content recording: The ability to record proceedings in high definition allows for subsequent analysis and review, which is a valuable resource for training and research.
State-of-the-art training room:
In addition to the digitisation of the Interventional Room, full equipment has been installed in the Training Room. This includes a 4K interactive monitor and professional loudspeaker and microphone systems. The main functionality of this room is the live viewing of surgeries without latency and with optimal quality, as well as two-way communication with the Interventionist Room. This real-time communication allows effective interaction between the staff in the Training Room and the professionals performing the surgeries.
This technological advance enhances the training of future surgeons and professionals, shortening distances and allowing multi-sites to converge regardless of their location.
Ditec Medical is grateful for the trust placed in our expertise and professionals for the implementation and development of this project and we trust that this experience will set a precedent for future collaborations and advances in the interventional surgery segment.
