Yikang Medical Wins 2025 Ministry of Education Science Award

Recently, the Ministry of Education officially announced the results of the 2025 Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award (Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology). The project "Key Technologies and Applications of Interactive Multi-Degree-of-Freedom Neurorehabilitation Robots," led by Professor Yu Hongliu's team from Shanghai University of Science and Technology and jointly submitted with Guangzhou Yikang Medical Equipment Industry Co., Ltd., won the second prize for engineering technology research achievements! Yikang Medical, as the award-winning unit, and its Chairman Du Jiliang, as one of the project award recipients, have made outstanding contributions to the key technological innovation and clinical application of high-end rehabilitation robots.

Breakthrough in high-end rehabilitation robot technology barriers
In the field of neurorehabilitation, enabling robots to achieve precise coordinated movements across multiple joints and degrees of freedom, and to interact with humans naturally and safely, has always been a core technological and industrial bottleneck restricting the development of high-end rehabilitation robots. These core breakthroughs have jointly constructed a complete interactive multi-degree-of-freedom neurorehabilitation robot technology system, laying a solid technical foundation for achieving safe, efficient, and personalized active rehabilitation training.
Products built upon this technology platform have reached or partially surpassed international advanced levels in key indicators such as degrees of freedom of movement, precision of collaborative control, and compliance of human-computer interaction. Currently, these innovative products are in clinical use in over 2,000 general hospitals and rehabilitation institutions nationwide, and have successfully entered overseas markets, breaking the long-standing technological and market monopoly of developed countries. This has enabled domestically produced high-end rehabilitation equipment to leap from "following" to "keeping pace" and even "leading" in some areas. Thanks to their superior performance and reputation, these products maintain a leading market share in China, creating significant economic and social benefits and powerfully propelling China's neurorehabilitation robot technology to the forefront of the world.
