Design is essential in elderly care, both now and in the future.

By 2040, Spain will have a total of 14.2 million people over the age of 65, representing 27.4 % of an estimated population of 52 million inhabitants.

According to the latest official data from the “Padrón Continuo” (Continuous Register), in 2022 there were already 9.5 million senior citizens in Spain, accounting for 19.97 % of the total population of 47.5 million inhabitants in the country.

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) predicts that by 2040, Spain will have a total of 14.2 million people over the age of 65, representing 27.4 % of an estimated population of 52 million inhabitants.

This is also reflected in the October 2023 report from Envejecimiento en red (Aging on the web), a laboratory that is part of the Population Department of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), which indicates that starting from 2030, there will be a sharp increase in the senior population, with the aging of the generations born during the baby boom of the 1960s.

The handling of a piece of furniture, its adjustment system, safety mechanisms, and the removal of sharp edges are factors that must be considered in the design of furniture for an increasingly significant number of elderly individuals. At Seniorcare, we pay attention to every detail of each of our pieces, working with design professionals who excel in both the technical aspects of the product as well as its functionality and aesthetics.
