Somnibel Clinical Study
Your solution for positional apneas and snoring
We would like to make a special mention of the clinical study we conducted with Somnibel, our therapy for positional apneas and snoring.
The study was carried out simultaneously at the University Hospital of Araba and the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida, under the supervision of Dr. Joaquín Durán and Dr. Ferrán Barbé—renowned sleep specialists and two of the most influential researchers in the field internationally.
A total of 128 patients participated in the study, randomly assigned to one of three groups:
- Active Somnibel device
- Inactive Somnibel device (placebo mode)
- No Somnibel device, only sleep hygiene guidelines
All participants underwent an initial polysomnography. They then continued for three months with or without the device, depending on their assigned group. At the end of the period, a second polysomnography was performed, from which conclusions were drawn.
The results of the clinical study support the efficacy of Somnibel in reducing positional apneas. Here are the key validated outcomes in the group using the active Somnibel therapy:
- Reduction in apnea index
- Decrease in time spent in the supine position
- Increase in average blood oxygen saturation
- Improved sleep quality: increased deep sleep time and reduced number of micro-awakenings
- Increased total sleep time
The device has shown a high level of compliance among patients with positional obstructive sleep apnea (POSA), both in terms of usage time and percentage of days used. Users reported high levels of satisfaction, and most notably, from day one, the device effectively reduced the time spent with the head in the supine position. A reliable and effective option for patients seeking to improve their sleep and overall well-being.
