“3D Running Kinematics” workshop at the First International Congress of Running Science in Zaragoza

First International Congress of Running Science

As part of the First International Congress of Running Science, held on March 27–28, 2025 in Zaragoza, STT Systems played an active role by delivering the workshop “3D Running Kinematics”. The session was led by our colleague Paula Flórez, our biomechanical engineer, and took place at the TechMov lab of Universidad San Jorge.

The workshop focused on the use of our 3DMA software for advanced running analysis, showcasing its ability to accurately measure key variables such as cadence, joint angles, and efficiency parameters in runners. Through hands-on demonstrations, attendees experienced firsthand how these tools can support performance optimization and injury prevention.
Fundamental concepts in biomechanical analysis of runners were also discussed, including the importance of proper running technique in reducing injury risk and improving movement efficiency. With the help of a volunteer, a specific case study was presented, demonstrating how 3D motion capture can reveal movement patterns in elite athletes—and how this methodology can be extended to evaluate performance across different athletic levels.

The TechMov lab, located in the San Valero Group building, is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universidad San Jorge. Its mission is to promote research in human biomechanics and transfer knowledge to society, generating a positive impact in the healthcare, business, and sports sectors. In this context, the collaboration with STT Systems and the execution of this workshop reinforced the role of technology in the study of human movement.

The event brought together researchers, coaches, physiotherapists, and other sports science professionals, who emphasized the value of biomechanics in data-driven decision-making. During the session, discussions centered on how tools like 3DMA can be integrated into labs and clinics to enhance runner assessments and support the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

The presentation by Paula Flórez highlighted the potential of 3DMA technology in sports research and also reaffirmed the commitment of STT Systems to the scientific community. This event helped strengthen the connection between industry and academia, demonstrating that the future of running lies in high-precision biomechanical analysis. Through initiatives like this, STT Systems continues to position itself as a leader in technological innovation applied to sports and health.
