3DMA System: a valuable tool in clinical biomechanics

Accurate Movement Assessment

Biomechanical analysis has transformed clinical movement evaluation, enabling more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatments. Both MC Mutual Copérnico in Barcelona and Rodríguez San Pedro in Madrid have incorporated the 3DMA system developed by STT Systems, achieving remarkable improvements in gait analysis and functional rehabilitation studies.

Thanks to advanced 3D motion capture technology, these centers have optimized the analysis of gait patterns, functional asymmetries, and biomechanical alterations—key elements in the rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. The acquisition of normative data has made it possible to compare individual cases with reference values, enhancing the objectivity of clinical decision-making.

MC Mutual Copérnico uses 3D photogrammetry technology, with 10 motion capture cameras recording up to 240 frames per second, combined with surface electromyography and force platforms. 3DMA is the software responsible for recording, synchronizing, and integrating all these signals into a single interface, from which exercises are analyzed and reports are generated.

MC Mutual Rodríguez San Pedro, in turn, uses the iSen inertial system (10 IMU sensors), recording 3D rotations at 400 Hz and combining them with surface electromyography and baropodometric pressure platforms.

Detailed Reports and Real-Time Clinical Data
One of the most valued features of the 3DMA and iSen systems is their ability to generate detailed clinical reports, providing essential metrics on joint kinematics, center of mass dynamics, and load distribution. This has facilitated early detection of gait alterations, assessment of injuries, pathology quantification, and has optimized the design of individualized treatment plans.

Impact on Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention
The integration of biomechanical technology into clinical settings has enabled specialists to monitor patient progress with greater precision, adapting therapies based on real-time data. This evidence-based approach has significantly improved outcomes for patients with orthopedic, neurological, and sports-related conditions, ensuring a more efficient recovery process.

This success story demonstrates how applied biomechanics in clinical environments makes a real difference in the evaluation and treatment of locomotor system dysfunctions. At STT Systems, we continue to innovate to provide tools that enhance precision and efficiency in clinical practice.
