Clean Room Requirements for Computer Hardware

What is a clean room, how are clean rooms maintained, and what type of computers can be used for clean room manufacturing?

Clean rooms are used for applications such as pharmaceutical production and biomedical research. The ISO clean room classes range from 1-9 and they set the threshold for the number of particles in the air, per cubic meter. Computers used in these environments must be able to withstand daily wash-downs or wipe-downs with cleaning chemicals. These computers can be built with stainless steel or anti-microbial housing and they have fanless cooling systems.
