Ceiling Light with Integrated Screen: Benefits, Limitations and Price
What an integrated-screen ceiling luminaire really brings to a dental practice — and what it does not. An honest guide, with real prices.
A ceiling light with an integrated screen is simple to define: a premium luminaire that provides the main lighting of your treatment room, with a 32" or 43" screen positioned in the natural line of sight of the reclined patient. Before investing, you deserve the full picture: what it really brings, what it does not solve, and what it actually costs.
It is a luminaire first. This is not "a TV on the ceiling". The fixture is engineered to deliver the lighting levels dentistry requires — 750 to 1,000 lux of ambient light on the working plane, high colour rendering (CRI ≥ 95) and a colour temperature suited to clinical work. The screen is integrated into that luminaire, not added instead of it.
The real benefits. One single trade intervention instead of three (lighting, AV screen, acoustics installed separately). A screen genuinely positioned for the patient's eyes, defined at design stage from the chair layout. And a calmer patient during long treatments: attention drifts to the film, not to the instruments — particularly effective in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics, where patients talk about it around them.
The honest limitations. It costs roughly twice as much as an equivalent luminaire without a screen. It brings little value to practices doing only short appointments. The screen position depends on the chair layout, so the project must be prepared — ceiling type, power supply and network access anticipated with your electrician. And a screen remains an electronic component: it does not share the 50,000-hour lifespan of the LEDs, which is why ours is replaceable without changing the luminaire.
Real prices (EVO Media range, 2026). Oval 32" from €4,000; circular Ø60 or square 32" from €4,900; premium made-to-measure from €5,000; large 43" screen from €5,900. Prices exclude options and installation (available as an option). All EVO-LIGHT luminaires are covered by a 5-year warranty.
Our position: if the screen will not serve your practice, a luminaire without one is the better investment — and we will tell you so. Send us your room dimensions and a photo: you will receive a precise, free recommendation.
