Patient-specific surgical instruments for orthognathic surgery (Le Fort I)

Patient complained about malocclusion, facial disproportion. In order to reduce complication risks and to increase precision, she decided to choose patient-specific treatment option.

ORTHO BALTIC IMPLANTS SOLUTION

Orthognathic correction was planned using MICE (Medical Implants Customization Engine) virtual and 3D printed anatomical models that have been creating using patient’s radiological CT images. Total of 3 surgical guides for maxillary osteotomy and occlusion restoration have been designed virtually and manufactured from biocompatible polymer Nylon-12. The first guide was used for precise maxillary resection and for preparing holes for pre-bent osteosynthesis plates. Second guide (occlusal splint) helped to position maxilla as planned while it was fastened with osteosynthesis plates. Third guide was also an occlusal splint which helped to position mandible after performing sagittal split osteotomy. Patient’s malocclusion and mandible disproportion have been corrected. Now, after this surgery and dental work, patient has a confident smile.
