Few years after primary replacement of the right hip joint, patient was diagnosed with infection which led to the removal of the prosthesis. Acetabular bone was left with a big defect, 3A according to W.G. Paprosky.

ORTHO BALTIC IMPLANTS SOLUTION

After performing anatomical 3D reconstruction of patient’s pelvis, patient-specific implant model was designed to fill acetabular bone defect and restore hip joint biomechanics. Implant was manufactured from Ti6Al4V powder using 3D printing DMLS technology, which allows to form a part of implant from trabecular surface for inducing bone osteointegration and ensuring faster secondary implant fixation. Patient-specific surgical guides and screw map assisted during surgery to insert screws according to planned axes and depth. Patient’s acetabular defect was filled and hip joint function was restored completely.
