Autonomous Courier Robots for Hospital Internal Logistics
Internal transport of medical equipment, medications, and other goods requires careful management to avoid contamination and delays, but current protocols are often inefficient and inaccurate.
Manual internal transport of instruments, medication and records exposes staff to contamination risk and causes delays. Wolf-e Robotics' Wolf-e Courier autonomous robots move goods safely between hospital departments with precise navigation and full traceability.
Internal logistics is an underestimated source of clinical risk. Moving instruments, medication, records and other goods between departments by hand exposes staff to unnecessary contact and introduces delays that affect patient care. Traditional protocols are often inefficient and imprecise, leaving gaps in both hygiene and speed.
Wolf-e Robotics developed the Wolf-e Courier, a range of autonomous transport robots designed for indoor movement of medical cargo. Each unit offers 10 hours of autonomy, ten types of high-precision sensors, two 3D cameras, a gyroscope, an accelerometer and a magnetic sensor, with suspension that adapts to any floor type. Cargo is carried in two compartments of 23 and 27 litres. Navigation relies on 360-degree sensing, and each robot integrates into the Wolf-e Robotics management platform for traceability, order handling, scheduling, routine checks, real-time data analysis and activity reporting — removing staff from repetitive transport tasks and reducing their exposure.
The system is built for large healthcare estates: it delivers an average delivery time of under 8 minutes, supports real-time robot-status tracking and multi-robot collaboration, and its integrated delivery-management platform suits structures of up to 100,000 square metres. Wolf-e Robotics presented the solution at the APCI Infection Prevention Conference in Sibiu in late 2023.
