Far-UV-C at 222 nm: In-Presence Disinfection Debuts at MEDICA Düsseldorf

MEDICA Düsseldorf is the place where top medical technology products, laboratory equipment, and all aspects of the medical industry are launched and commercialized.

At MEDICA — the world's largest medical trade fair — Wolf-e Robotics debuted a new autonomous robot operating at the 222 nm wavelength, which disinfects air and surfaces safely in the presence of people, removing the downtime conventional germicidal UV-C requires.

MEDICA (Düsseldorf, 14–17 November 2022) is the flagship event of the global health industry; its 2021 edition drew more than 3,000 exhibitors and over 46,000 specialist visitors from 155 countries across 115,000 m², and exhibitors are admitted only under strict criteria — making participation itself a mark of credibility. Over four days at Hall 11, Stand A65, Wolf-e Robotics presented its Romanian-made UV-C disinfection portfolio for hospital environments to a global medical audience.

The headline was a new autonomous mobile robot operating at the 222 nm wavelength. Unlike conventional germicidal UV-C, 222 nm far-UV-C is intended to disinfect surfaces and air in the presence of people, which removes the interruptions otherwise required when rooms must be emptied for a disinfection cycle — a meaningful productivity gain in busy clinical spaces. The company also emphasised the device-management platform behind its products, designed for clinical environments such as operating rooms, laboratories and ICUs, which delivers automation, compliance and traceability that manual methods cannot match, and can be adapted to equipment a facility already operates.
