Digital, Auditable Disinfection: Wolf-e Robotics at APCI 2025
In Romania, according to data published by the Ministry of Health, only about 1% of discharged patients are officially reported as having nosocomial infections.
At the APCI 2025 "Safe Patient Care: Infection Prevention & Control" conference, Wolf-e Robotics presented its autonomous UV-C robots and the Wolf-e Platform, which makes every disinfection cycle traceable and auditable - directly addressing Romania's wide gap between reported and actual HAI rates.
Hospital-acquired infections remain one of the greatest challenges for health systems, prolonging stays and raising both costs and clinical risk. The reporting gap is stark: in Romania only about 1% of discharged patients are officially recorded with a nosocomial infection, while experts estimate the true incidence is at least five to seven times higher, close to the European average. ECDC statistics put EU rates at 6–7% of inpatients and CDC data put US rates at 5–10%. That discrepancy is itself an argument for digitalisation, traceability and proactive prevention.
At APCI 2025, Wolf-e Robotics exhibited autonomous UV-C disinfection systems featuring intelligent navigation with obstacle avoidance and real-time mapping, IoT-based monitoring and reporting of each session, rapid cycles with proven reduction of microbial load up to 99.9%, and fully chemical-free operation. The robots disinfect operating rooms, wards, clinics and offices without exposing staff to aggressive substances.
