Simple sealing doors vs hermetic doors: the differences
A guide for designers and contractors
Simple sealing door or hermetic door? The two are often confused, but they are built differently, perform differently and are meant for different rooms.
Construction. A simple sealing door closes against gaskets. A hermetic door uses a pressure system: on Hospital Division sliding doors, the leaf lowers and moves towards the wall as it closes, compressing the gaskets on all four sides, with no floor threshold.
Performance. A simple sealing door looks closed. A hermetic door is tested: our HD 60 Hermetic sliding door is classified class 3 to UNI EN 14351-1, up to 300 Pa.
Where each one is needed. A simple sealing door is enough for corridors and internal routes, outpatient clinics and ordinary patient rooms. A hermetic door is needed in operating rooms kept at positive pressure, intensive and sub-intensive care units and isolation rooms.
