Module composition (Tow-Int Tech - Animal Metabolism Monitoring System)

The animal metabolism monitoring system independently developed by Tow-Int Tech is a highly flexible modular platform. Through one software, different functional modules in the cage can be controlled simultaneously, including the respiratory entropy metabolism monitoring module, environmental temperature control module, diet and weight monitoring module, urine/feces monitoring module, autonomous activity and training module, learning and memory monitoring module, and physiological telemetry monitoring module.

Functions

It is mainly used for real-time monitoring and recording of small animal metabolic movement-related indicators, qualitative and quantitative measurement, and analysis of animal behavior activities and their relationship with respiratory metabolism. It is also widely used in research on nutrition, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other metabolic-related diseases.

Optional parameters

The optional parameters include energy consumption, food and water intake, feeding and drinking patterns, spatial position, total activity and wheel rotation times, weight, heart rate, body temperature, automated behavior analysis, etc. All data can be synchronized and stored on the computer.

Multi-channel measurement is adopted (the number of channels can be selected as needed), and each experimental chamber is equipped with an independent controller.

Real-time Detection of Parameters

Respiratory metabolism detection module

The animal respiratory metabolism monitoring system is a simplified version of the animal metabolism monitoring system (home cages). It is mainly used to monitor the oxygen consumption, CO2 production, respiratory metabolism rate, etc. of animals and is standard equipment for measuring animal metabolism.

Air intake control method: Adopting pull air intake mode, the experimental cage does not need to be completely sealed. A digital flow valve controls gas flow with a control accuracy of 0.01L/min.

Airflow drying function: The airflow drying function ensures that the gas composition of the sample is not affected by humidity and other adsorption materials, ensuring the accuracy of gas measurement data.

Equipped with an ammonia removal module: Before the gas enters the detector, the ammonia removal device removes the ammonia from the sample gas, eliminates the interference of alkaline gases, ensures measurement accuracy, and prevents corrosion of the detector and other components by ammonia.

Gas monitoring module: It has humidity monitoring and compensation functions to ensure the accuracy of gas measurement data.

Urine/feces monitoring module

Realize the separation and collection of animal feces and urine. Real-time feces, urine, and weight monitoring are optional for analyzing animal metabolism.

The animal metabolism cage and feces and urine collection tube are made of high-finish PSU material, which effectively prevents animal feces and urine from hanging on the wall and residue;

It has a drinking water leakage recovery design to improve the measurement accuracy and avoid affecting urine collection.

It has a refrigeration module for feces and urine collection, which can achieve frozen storage.

 Feeding, drinking, and weight monitoring module

The feeding, drinking, and weight monitoring system is a functional module of the animal metabolism monitoring system, which is mainly used to monitor changes in animal food, water intake, and weight over a long period of time. The animal experimental chamber is a conventional mouse cage with a homecage design to meet the requirements of long-term animal life and can achieve 24-hour monitoring.

Drinking water weighing: stainless steel, can be sterilized at high temperature and pressure.

Food weighing: stainless steel, can be sterilized at high temperature and pressure.

Drinking water and feeding control: optional drinking water and feeding access control system.

Anti-debris device: can reduce errors caused by debris loss and leakage during feeding.

Weight monitoring module: The suspended weight platform automatically measures the animal's weight when it climbs on it.

Activity monitoring module

The animal activity monitoring system is a functional module of the animal metabolism monitoring system, which is mainly used to monitor the animal's continuous activity trails and count the changes in the animal's activity. The animal experimental chamber is a conventional mouse cage with a homecage design to meet the requirements of long-term animal life and can achieve 24-hour monitoring.

Optional animal running wheel experimental system

Record parameters such as instantaneous speed, maximum speed, cumulative movement distance, and movement time can record animals' activity curves.

Can collect parameters of 64 running wheels in real time at the same time, up to 30 days of data: the small animal running wheel is made of stainless steel, the wheel rotates smoothly and steadily;

Different wheels of different sizes can be selected for rat or mouse exercise experiments according to users' needs.

The animal running wheel system uses the animal cage with transparent PC material; the whole cage is easy to clean. There are drinking water bottles and food troughs inside.

Environmental control module (optional)

The microcomputer program controls temperature, humidity, and light intensity, simulating temperature and humidity changes during the day and night and choosing a sufficient and stable light source for the growth environment.

Temperature control range: 4℃-50℃, fluctuation: ±1.0℃, humidity control range: 50-90%RH

Lighting: 0-1000Lx adjustable, 30 program segments can be set, time range of each segment setting is 1-99h

Technical Application

The microcomputer program controls the temperature, humidity, and illuminance, simulating temperature and humidity changes during the day and night and selecting a sufficient and stable light source for the growth environment.
