Standardized IVUS CTO Test Phantom: Reliable Benchmark for IVUS Imaging Validation
Accurate, repeatable, and standardized testing is the cornerstone of high-performance intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) system development, quality verification, and clinical translation. Inconsistent test environments and unstable imaging references often hinder precise performance evaluation, algorithm iteration, and product consistency control for IVUS devices. To address this industry pain point, Trando 3D, a pioneer in functional 3D-printed bionic vascular models in China, has independently developed the advanced IVUS CTO test phantom. Tailored based on real human coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) pathological features, this standardized test platform integrates authentic human tissue acoustic characteristics with high-precision additive manufacturing technology, delivering a stable, reusable, and authoritative verification benchmark for the full lifecycle R&D and quality control of IVUS systems.
To restore authentic in-vivo IVUS imaging effects, the phantom adopts custom-formulated tissue-mimicking materials with acoustic parameters highly consistent with human soft tissues, eliminating imaging distortion caused by mismatched acoustic properties. Its core acoustic indicators are precisely calibrated to clinical standards: a sound velocity of 1540 m/s, an acoustic attenuation coefficient of 0.5 dB/cm/MHz, and an acoustic impedance of 1.6×10⁶ kg/(m²·s). Additionally, the model features uniform background imaging performance with zero bubble and impurity interference, effectively avoiding artifacts that affect image analysis. This enables sharp and clear presentation of CTO lesion boundaries and vascular structural details, providing ultra-reliable imaging conditions for objective evaluation of IVUS image quality, spatial resolution, and structural recognition capability.
Beyond authentic imaging simulation, the IVUS CTO test phantom is fully optimized for professional IVUS device R&D and batch testing scenarios. Featuring excellent flexibility, wear resistance, and chemical stability, it supports repeated insertion, withdrawal, and scanning of IVUS catheters and guidewires for long-term laboratory use. The smooth inner lumen and uniform resistance ensure accurate verification of motor withdrawal precision and scanning stability during device operation. It covers a comprehensive range of test items, including IVUS image quality assessment, spatial resolution verification, 3D reconstruction accuracy calibration, algorithm performance comparison, product consistency testing, and factory quality control. With strict dimensional precision control and complete supporting technical documents—including 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, material performance certificates, and factory inspection reports—the phantom enables comparable test results across different timelines, devices, and batches, laying a solid standardized foundation for the iterative upgrading and industrial standardized validation of IVUS systems.
